OVERVIEW
Chris represents clients in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including business contract disputes, unfair competition cases, unlawful termination suits, and personal injury claims. His primary field of practice is construction litigation, in which he represents owners and general contractors in complex state and federal court cases involving schedule delays, change order disputes, residential and commercial construction defects, and payment claims on both private and public jobs. In addition to litigation, Chris’s practice includes drafting and negotiating construction and design contracts and counseling clients on issues of risk management and avoidance. He is a frequent lecturer at seminars for professionals in the construction industry and for the past several years has served as a course instructor for the California Construction Law class offered through the San Jose State University Extension program.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

Recently obtained summary judgment and dismissal of more than $16 million dollars worth of claims against a client in federal court.

Currently defending a general contractor in federal court against competing delay and inefficiency claims totaling more than $30 million dollars concerning construction of one of the world’s largest dairy processing facilities.

Secured dismissal on motion for summary judgment of a $10 million dollar construction delay claim against client in state court.

Successfully mediated and settled numerous commercial disputes, including a claim over $1 million dollars, against a client involving a failed software implementation program.
