OVERVIEW
Bill Hurley has more than 21 years of construction law experience, with an emphasis in representing general contractors in all facets of private and public construction, such as contract negotiation and preparation of prime contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders. Bill has provided representation to developers and general contractors in negotiating and preparing contract documents on commercial and residential construction projects. He has also represented general contractors in bid disputes on public works projects, claim preparation and claim evaluation, prosecution and defense of contractor claims, and prosecution and defense of mechanic’s lien claims.

He has extensive experience representing clients in state courts, at arbitration tribunals such as the American Arbitration Association and in private mediation. Bill also acts as a mediator and arbitrator in construction related disputes.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

Currently representing an ENR top-50 general contractor in connection with extra work and delay claims arising out of the construction of a high rise, commercial office building in San Diego, California.

Representation of a large general contractor in negotiating a construction contract with a publicly traded REIT in connection with the construction of a retail shopping complex in San Jose, California.

Representation of a large, out of state general contractor in negotiating a construction contract with a Native American tribe relating to the construction of an Indian casino.

Representation of a residential developer in negotiation of design and construction contracts in connection with a residential development in Oxnard, California.

Currently representing a general contractor in prosecuting claims for breach of contract and foreclosure of mechanic’s liens on commercial projects in Sacramento and Gilroy, California.

Provide daily counsel to general contractors and developers on various construction issues and disputes which regularly arise during the course of construction.
